Description:
Lead Teacher for a classroom of older twos and threes.
The hours are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Develops meaningful, warm and responsive relationship with children and their families
- Provides a rich and appropriate educational initiative for children based on group and individual needs and current NAEYC, NYSDOE and NYCDOHMH guidelines
- Organizes and leads activities to promote physical, mental and social development
- Monitors children play activities to identify additional learning opportunities or behavioral issues
- Anticipates problems and redirects
- Provides a welcoming and supportive environment for children and families
- Acts as a role model, coach, and trainer for other teaching staff
- Implements and outlines Teaching Strategies
- Conducts parent/teacher conferences
- Administers developmental screening and assessments
- Maintains a safe and aesthetically pleasing indoor and outdoor environment meeting all NAEYC, NYCDOHMH and DOE regulations
- Participate in ongoing staff development initiatives including staff meetings, NYCDOHMH required trainings, NYSDOE initiatives and NAEYC accreditation processes
- Works effectively with all programs and funding collaborations
- Maintains a professional image consistent with the mission of the ECC, SOE, DSA, DOE and BC appropriate to age, language and culture of children.
- Follows the ECC program curriculum, providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences appropriate to the age, language and culture of the children.
- Develops and implements curriculum that meet the needs of all children including goal-setting based on the needs of each child
- Implements daily lesson plans in response to children’s needs and interests incorporating observations, anecdotal record keeping, knowledge of early childhood development and key experiences.
- Keep accurate records and authentic assessment of children’s educational programs to all domains based on individual needs and abilities
- Provides children with consistent classroom routines
- Provides supervision and ensures the safety and security of children at all times
- Supervises and eats nutritionally prepared meals and/or snacks with the children as a curriculum activity, to model good nutrition and proper social skills
- Creates an inviting learning environment
- Ability to make appropriate written documentation referrals when needed
- Maintains confidentiality
- Avoids stereotyping and labeling
- Uses a modulated, appropriate voice tone
- Inspects children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival to school
- Inspects outdoor and indoor play areas before play
- Good grooming and appropriate attire
- Notifies parents and directors/office manager when children are sick or get hurt
- Files accident or incident reports as needed.
- Supervises and participates in monthly fire drills as required by NYCDOHMH and FDNY
- Communicates directly with supervisors
- Ability to implement suggestions
- Looks for ways to improve the program
- Follows center's philosophy and policies

- Flexible with assignments and schedule
- Reliable in attendance
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education is required
- NYS Teacher Certification is required
- Minimum of 3 years of professional child care experience is required
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills is required
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children and parents) and to foster a team environment
- Knowledge of the Reggio-inspired and Project Approach of education and curriculum planning is preferred
- A strong understanding of child development
- Excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Mandated reporter certificate is required
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certificate is required
- Must be fingerprinted,full background check (and must pass health screening) in accordance with the NYCDOHMH guidelines and regulations
Minimum Education Level: NYS Teacher Certification
Preferred Education Level: NYS Teacher Certification
