Hi!
We're looking for someone to help facilitating learning and growing for our amazing 6 year old non-speaking kiddo. He is incredibly self-directed, so this person is excited to understand his interests and his atypical play, and think creatively about how to bring his learnings to the next level.
Our ideal person would be eligible to be a SETSS, but we are open to other creative possibilities. The right person is the most important for us!
We live in the 11216 zip code and are just looking for a day a week or so - weekdays during the day. (We have 10 SETSS hours approved). We are also considering options like having this person work with our kid one day a week at Apple Academy in South Slope, or meeting at a museum or play space once a week instead. We're somewhat flexible.
This person must have some experience with non-speaking kids with high support needs. They should be excited to collaborate as a family. He is a multi-modal communicator, so you should be excited to learn more about how he communicates and how to support him in growth around that. We have an incredible speech therapist who will be happy to work with you as well!
Although you don't have to be a SETSS, you do have to be legally able to work in the US and willing to do a background check with our disability services agency, and be paid on the books.
