The Pre-K Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of young children. This role involves creating a positive, engaging classroom environment, managing daily activities, and providing individualized instruction to meet the needs of each child. The Lead Teacher will collaborate with support staff, communicate regularly with families, and ensure a safe, nurturing space for learning. A strong focus on early childhood development, classroom management, and positive relationships with children and families is essential.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing lesson plans based on state and school curriculum standards.
- Managing classroom behavior and creating a structured, positive environment.
- Assessing and documenting children’s progress and development.
- Communicating with parents about their child’s progress and needs.
- Collaborating with fellow educators and staff to enhance student learning and growth.
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Certification: Valid state certification in Early Childhood Education or ability to obtain certification.
3. Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with young children in a preschool or early childhood setting.
4. Knowledge: Strong understanding of child development principles, early learning standards, and age-appropriate teaching methods.
5. Skills: Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
6. Creativity & Patience: Ability to develop engaging, hands-on learning activities and a patient, nurturing approach to teaching.
7. Clear Background Check: Successful completion of background checks as required by state and local regulations.
8. CPR/First Aid: Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
