We are a small, vibrant early childhood program nestled in the heart of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn, serving a mixed-age group of children ages 2 years to 5 years old.ย
As part of our teaching team, youโll help create a joyful classroom where children feel safe, seen, and supported. You will:
- Bring warmth, joy, and care to the program.
- Supervise and engage children with warmth and care all day.
- Maintain a gentle, curious, and respectful approach to children and families
- Build strong, nurturing relationships to support childrenโs social and emotional growth.
- Create lesson plans and lead activities that match childrenโs interests and development.
- Help prepare materials and implement learning experiences.
- Observe, document and assess childrenโs progress to guide teaching and communicate with parents.
- Support children with daily routines ie greeting/departing, nap/rest, meals/snacks, diapering/toileting, handwashing, transitions, health/safety practices.
- Keep the classroom safe, clean, and organized to encourage learning and independence.
- Take children outdoors daily including to Park and neighborhood walks
- Foster positive partnerships with families through regular communication and family engagement.
- Work closely with teachers, families, and others involved in the program.
- Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks that meet nutritional standards.
- Clean, sanitize and disinfect classroom areas as needed.
- Lead parent-teacher meetings to discuss childrenโs growth.
- Assist with health inspections and official visits.
- Participate in ongoing training, meetings, and supervision.
- Take on additional tasks as needed.
We are looking for individuals who are collaborative, reliable and who bring warmth, curiosity, and dedication to their work with young children:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Possess aย Child Development Associateย Credential or an Associates in Early Childhoodย or pursuing one with at least 12 credits inย Early Childhood Education plus 2 years experience in a child care setting
- At least 2 years of experience working with young children
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting with the Department of Health
- Valid Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
- Must complete 10 hours of Health & Safety Training on the ECETP website before start date
- Three professional references (at least one must be from a child-related role)
- Able to bend, lift up to 30 lbs, and be physically active throughout the day including outdoor play
