Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play‑based lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports each child’s learning style and developmental needs.
  • Supervise children at all times and ensure their safety, well‑being, and engagement.
  • Support children’s social‑emotional development through modeling, guidance, and positive behavior strategies.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, incident reports, and required documentation.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with families about children’s progress and daily experiences.
  • Collaborate with assistant teachers and staff to ensure smooth classroom operations.
  • Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.
  • Follow all program policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety guidelines.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field (as required by licensing).
  • NYS Teaching Certification (Birth–2) preferred, if applicable.
  • Experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create a nurturing, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
