The professional working with young children creates genuine, supportive relationships with children

Shows genuine interest in children's experiences, ideas and work

Engages in meaningful and extended conversation with children individually each day

As appropriate, shares information about his or her life outside of the program or classroom with children (i.e., personal stories, interests, hobbies)
